Doublehead Resort & Lodge

Doublehead Resort specializes in professionally guided quail hunts. The Resort offers a 5-stand sporting clay range that includes 7 fully automatic electronically controlled traps. Set on Wilson Lake, guests have access to a sand beach and swimming area, lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, two playgrounds, a swimming pool with a cascading stream and a softball field. Area activities include horseback riding, hiking and a number of water sports.

Drakes Shooting Preserve

For the past 20 years, Drakes Shooting Preserve has raised their own quail, chukar, and pheasant to ensure the highest quality of birds for hunters. Drakes offers hunting dogs to enhance the hunting experience for their visitors.

Madison County Lake

Madison County Lake is a 105-acre lake located near Huntsville. The Lake is well stocked with rainbow trout. Trout fishing typically begins on the Friday after Thanksgiving and lasts through March. Rainbow trout are stocked in a 1.5-acre area of the lake, providing fishing that easily accessible for all. Other fish include bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, catfish, and crappie.

Dekalb County State Public Fishing Lake

Located 1 mile north of Sylvania, this large 120-acre lake offers a great opportunity for fishermen to catch bass year-round. Bluegill and redear sunfish are typically caught by the bank and by boat anglers during the spring and summer months. Catfish are available year-round, but summer months are the best time to catch them. Crappie fishing is best in February and April.
