The northern portion of the state has maintained an enthusiasm for performing arts far larger than its population. The region maintains a nice mix of professional and community companies in theatre and dance, and the people of the area continue to show great support through generous contributions and outstanding attendance.

Theater Huntsville

Theatre Huntsville was born in 1997 from a merger of Twickenham Repertory Company, Inc and the Huntsville Little Theater. With combined resources and renewed passion for the art of live drama, the new theatre company has strengthened civic interest in legitimate stage productions. A typical season consists of six live performances at the Von Braun Center Playhouse in addition to various smaller programs at venues throughout the area. Theatre is a non-profit organization that relies solely on volunteer work and charitable donations to survive.

Huntsville Ballet Company

Each season at the Huntsville Ballet Company the productions are grand, the dancers are splendid, and the audiences are delighted. The ballet center opened in 1964, with 27 dancers. With the guidance from award winning artistic directors and the talent of experienced dancers from around the world, the Huntsville Ballet Company has enjoyed great success.

Beledi Club of Huntsville

The Beledi Club brings the exotic beauty of Middle Eastern dance to Northern Alabama. The club is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the art of belly dancing through sponsored classes, workshops and shows, festivals performances and seminar showcases.

Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater

For over 40 years, the Fantasy Playhouse Children's Theater has presented quality live theater for the community. The theater season is comprised of three regular productions as well as an annual staging of the Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. All performances are held at the Von Braun Center Playhouse in Huntsville, and most productions play before packed houses.

Ars Nova Inc.

Ars Nova, Inc. is a non-profit organization for the performing arts that runs a school for training in voice, music, and theater. Ars Nova also runs a performing company that produces dramatic plays, operas and musicals.
